Each country within South America has its own unique process for product Type Approvals. Argentina and Brazil require product Type Approvals for telecom and safety on devices that emit radio frequencies or connect to the PSTN. Other countries only require product Type Approvals if the equipment has radio frequency capability. Manufacturers can often leverage existing FCC or CE approvals to obtain the required country Certificate of Conformity in many South American countries. Please note that many countries require final governmental approvals prior to importation and commercialization of equipment.
