New ENACOM Standards for January 2018

New ENACOM Standards have been published for Argentina.

The new Standards are:

  • 5762-E/2017 – ENACOM Standard Q2–61.03 V17.1 (User Terminals)
  • 5927-E/2017 – ENACOM Standard Q2–61.04 V17.1 (Radio Base Stations)
  • 5926-E/2017 – ENACOM Standard Q2–60.16 V17.1 (Digital Multichannel Systems)

Major Keypoints:

  • User Terminals: in 180 days, 2G/3G/4G Terminals (including modules) will require local testing under ENACOM-Q2-61.03 v17.1 standard. FCC reports won´t be accepted.
  • Radio Base Station: in 180 days, 2G/3G/4G Radio Bases Stations will have to be tested under the new ENACOM-Q2-61.04 v17.1 standard and it will not be possible to continue using CNT-PM-1 standard.
  • Digital Multichannel Systems: in 90 days, DMS (for example: microwave systems) will have to be tested under the new ENACOM-Q2-60.16 v17.1 standard and it will not be possible to continue using CNT-PM-1 standard.

Mexico Update: IFT-011-2017 – IMEI Registration

TECHNICAL PROVISION IFT-011-2017: SPECIFICATIONS FOR TERMINAL EQUIPMENT – MOBILE PHONES THAT CAN USE THE RADIO-ELECTRIC SPECTRUM OR BE CONNECTED TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS.

IFT-011-2017 was created as a means to have all devices identified with the “International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and maintain a complete data base (Registry) of all Mobile terminal equipment in Mexico.

If the Mobile Terminal Equipment has the functionality of “FM” from its manufacturer, the FM feature must be enabled and activated for the end user so that the consumer has free access to the FM sound broadcasting service.

This standard will remove restrictions of the operation of mobile phones and provide the final user the right to access the information by using their mobile terminal equipment without having to pay for additional data.

Manual requirements: Instructions on how to access the IMEI on the end device.

Documents Required: Spreadsheet listing all IMEI numbers assigned to the product. There is no maximum amount of IMEI numbers and pricing is same for 1 or 500,000 IMEI numbers. Instructions on how to access the FM function of the mobile phone.

NIGER RESUMES TYPE APPROVAL SERVICES

Niger has resumed its type approval services after three years of delay.  There are some changes to the previous regulations.

  • A sample will be required for 2G, 3G, 4G and personal computers
  • Instead of a letter they will provide a certificate
  • Certification is good for 10 years
